چکیده

Two morphologies of nanostructured tin dioxide (SnO2) (i.e., nanobelts and nanowires) were compressed in diamond anvil cells up to 38 GPa followed by decompression. In situ Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron X-ray diffraction were employed to monitor the structural transformations. It was found that nanostructured SnO2 behaved drastically differently than bulk material in terms of transformation pressures, phase stability regions and compressibility. These findings provide new insight into the unique pressure behaviours of nanostructured materials and have profound implications for producing controlled structures with new applications achieved by combined pressure-morphology tuning. 2009 Elsevier B.V. Pressure-Induced Structural Transformations of ZnO Nanowires Probed by X-ray Diffraction

As an important wide band gap semiconductor (Eg = 3.37 eV), ZnO has a wide range of applications, such as in piezoelectric transducers, chemical sensors, optical coatings, photovoltaics, and ceramics. 3 In contrast to the corresponding bulk counterparts, nanostructured ZnO has enhanced electronic, and photoconducting properties. Because of the unique crystal quality and photonic properties, in ...

Methane-assisted combustion synthesis of nanocomposite tin dioxide materials

Combustion synthesis of tin dioxide (SnO2) was studied using a new synthesis approach where the combustion environment was augmented to control the temperature and flow conditions using methane as a supplemental fuel. The experiments were carried out at atmospheric pressure using a multi-element diffusion flame burner with a gas-phase precursor for SnO2 and solid-phase precursor for metal addit...

A new method for direct preparation of tin dioxide nanocomposite materials

In the current work, a novel combustion method is demonstrated for the direct synthesis of nanocomposite materials. Specifically doped tin dioxide (SnO2) powders were selected for the demonstration studies due to the key role SnO2 plays in semiconductor gas sensors and the strong sensitivity of doped SnO2 to nanocomposite properties. The synthesis approach combines solid and gas-phase precursor...
